July ... its still July isn't it?
Wow - summer is just flying past me this year. I can count on one hand the number of hours I have spent scrapbooking or crafting! Aside from a couple of birthday cards I haven't done any crafting. I did manage to squeeze out this one layout while at an all day crop at Auntie Em's in Cornwall. I did this from the Build-A-Page sketch challenge at Prima for July.

Seasons Change - a Brave canvas for me....
I've had this idea in my head for a while - a large canvas of a tree with all four seasons. This canvas is pretty big - not huge my any means, but it's 18x24, so much larger than what I'm use to working with. I started with the background, creating quadrants to represent Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. Then I added texture with a napkin. The tree is a hot glue then painted! The leaves are paper - using both a Martha Stewart punch and a Sizzix die (Prima). The fall leaves are from Prima's Sunrise Sunset collection, and the green leaves are Authentique's Peaceful collection. The cherry blossoms are from my stash - probably dollar store, can't remember. The snow is modeling paste from Liquitex and glitter (although you can't see it in the photo).
I love how it turned out - one of the few times where what was in my head actually came out on my page/canvas. I showed my husband and he said to me that he wants to hang it on the wall in the living room ... I near cried - he likes it that much, as much as I do!
So, let me know what you think - this is me being brave - doing a BIG canvas!

Facinated with fascinators!
I've been in full party planning mode for my daughter's birthday Tea Party. I wanted to give the girls a corner to dress up in, transform themselves back to a time of a Victorian era and sip tea with their pinky finger raised up. I made 5 fascinators and two tea party hats. If you are not sure what a fascinator is, think royal, mini hat, side of the head, feathers, flowers ... you know what I'm talking about now?
Here goes, I used a lot of my Prima flowers on this project. I wanted to get photos of them before the kids destroyed them, so I recruited a co-worker of mine to model for me! Here is the lovely Ania! Ania Hejnar is an amazingly talented soprano opera singer. She also teaches voice, violin and piano - Uber talented! Here is her website to check her out.
I think I used about 14 packages of Prima flowers! I used hot glue for this project, and now I remember why I *don't* typically use hot glue ... it HURTS when you get it on your fingers - ouchie! But it's great for sticking things onto metal and setting quickly. I loved the process of this project - building layer ontop of layer. Hope the kids like them too. Aniah liked them so much she asked me to make one for her wedding next year!
