Mixed Media Canvas

I have been trying my hand at mixed media recently.  Mostly by adding some mixed media products into my scrapbooking repertoire.  I have recently done two canvas pieces.  The first of which I wanted to showcase black gesso.  I then sprayed some Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Gold Lame through a stencil and then used a similar stencil in a smaller size with molding paste.  Burlap trim and some Prima flowers.

My second canvas was inspired from a mixture of Live With Prima classes and a canvas that Donna has posted on her blog.  I recently picked up two of the Donna Downey poppy stamps - they are a few years old, but I still liked them.  I coloured my background with gelatoes, then glued a napkin down with clear gel medium making sure it was all wrinkly.  I then used a mixture of gelatoes and paint on the stamps, and more paint mixed with water to make it drip for the stems.  I painted on some leaves and doodle outlined all the flowers, stems and leaves with my Pitt pen. I stamped a sentiment with some black Staz On.  I love how this turned out!

Well there you have it folks, my 3rd and 4th canvas' ever ... I'm enjoying the process.  I even entered the Poppy one into a contest.  Wish me luck!

This Is How I Roll - Giddy Up

I live in the country - WAY out in the country as my sister would say.  Its funny though, when anybody asks me where I live I always say "just outside of Ottawa" which in the whole scheme of things isn't wrong ... if your "just" is a 50 minute drive!  Anyway, these two collections from Carta Bella really struck my fancy the moment I saw them - Giddy Up boy and Giddy Up girl.  I haven't even opened the girl package yet, but I simply LOVE the boy one already.

My son was playing with an old tire we had in the back yard, my husband hung it up as a tire swing, but prior to that our little man found it so much fun to roll it up the hill, then down the hill, up the hill, then back down.  I don't usually do multiple photos, but I had so many similar photos for this memory that I thought I would put them together.

Guest designer for Great Impressions!

Finally I can spill the beans, a few months ago I was asked to be a guest designer for Great Impressions stamp company.  I had applied for their design team but did not get selected.  But was so over the moon excited when asked to be a guest designer. I did up two cards.  Both coloured with Copic markers.  Please stop by their blog and see what others have been creating with these stamps!

Hang In There
For my first card I used the Ride Em' Cowboy (G470) stamp - and paired it with Carta Bella's Giddy Up collection - I simply love how this paper perfectly compliments this stamp.  I used a sentiment from a totally different stamp collection "Hang In There"

 Just The Two Of Us

For my second card I loved this walking away image of this couple called Forever (G451) , I can envision them walking through a meadow gazing at all the wild flowers and simply enjoying life.  I tried to keep the colours light in this as I knew I wanted to use Prima's Lyric collection for this.  The sentiment was perfect for this, again from a Stamp Of The Month from previous months.

Well folks, there you have it, I hope you enjoyed looking at my creations as much as I enjoyed making them - and I sure did enjoy making them. If you want to see these cards in person be sure to pop into Auntie Em's Scrapbooking in Cornwall.

You read that right!  So get your comments flowing here - you can't win if you don't comment!

I Moose You!

A friend from the village has asked me to put together some cards that are going into a silent auction for a conference she is going to.  Her daughter has Chromosome 15q Duplication Syndrome and is attending  a conference in Minnesota in support of Dup15q.  What an honor to say the least that something handmade of mine will be debuting at this event.  Since we are from the village of Moose Creek, she asked me to do up some cards with a Moose theme.  Challenge accepted!  Now to find a Moose ... does a beaver count? No?  Damn, now what?  I borrowed a Cricut cartridge that has a moose on it, and put together this card.  Now for a sentiment ... I wanted it to be a little humorous ... so "I Moose You!"

I hope she likes the cards, and I hope the person who wins the silent auction enjoys them too.

You should also check out her blog, she is amazingly well spoken and side splittingly funny, such quick whit.  You will love it.  http://rachel-nudemommy.blogspot.ca/

Well what do you think?  Be kind, leave a comment - it free!

Totally Tilda Challenge

The challenge on the Totally Tilda Blog; link here is TomBoy Tilda, Tilda doing something boyish, or un lady like.  Well my Magnolia stamps are very limited, and anyone who knows me, knows that I'm a girly girl, and love pink.  This challenge was so hard for me.  The closest to boyish I have is Tilda walking a dog ... so here goes, this my entry!
