July ... its still July isn't it?

Wow - summer is just flying past me this year.  I can count on one hand the number of hours I have spent scrapbooking or crafting!  Aside from a couple of birthday cards I haven't done any crafting.  I did manage to squeeze out this one layout while at an all day crop at Auntie Em's in Cornwall.  I did this from the Build-A-Page sketch challenge at Prima for July.

I apologize about not having blogged much recently, but I haven't been crafting either :/

I am a Pinterest FREAK ...

I love Pinterest as a source of inspiration.  I see a project that I think to myself; hey, I can duplicate that ... I can make that!  And then I call my friend Amber over, and we try and do it ... sometimes better than others.

This time we were re-creating a Pin that a friend of mine sent of some rolled paper flowers.  They looked simple enough, and sure enough they were.  I used plain Bazzil cardstock and for the stems and leaves I used computer paper and sprayed it with some Prima Color Bloom spray (Lime Wedge) and then used the Prima Arbor Sizzix die to cut out the leaves.  In a matter of 2 hours we had made a half dozen blossoms, stems and leaves.  They turned out better than the originals if you ask me!

This Moment - Sister's - same last name no more ...

This is one of my favorite photos from my wedding - it was very impromptu and un-rehearsed, my sister put her elbows on my shoulders and folded her hands on my head.  It was an amazing moment captured.  This was the last day that we both shared the same last name.  Both of us are now married and have started families of our own.  Photographs are an amazing tool to capture a memory.  The background sheet is from the Ledger pad, and I used the new Stationer's Desk collection from Prima for this layout, and coloured up a Paintable ATC card with Distress Markers and Perfect Pearls (sorry about the glare).  I coloured some Scrap FX chipboard pieces with Twinkling H2O's (wow let me tell you that the pigment in those things is amazing!) and used Ranger's Rock Candy crackle on top.  I used various Prima stamps all over the background and a Tim Holtz stencil with heavy gesso, the finishing touch was Say It In Crystals from the same Stationer's Desk collection - I had my doubts that they matched as they looked too light - but they match perfectly!  The flowers are all Prima as well.

Four

I was searching for a title for this layout - and then it hit me, four ... simply four, that's how old she was when I took this photo.  I love the way the ruler turned out.  The background page is from the Ledger Pad from Prima - I'm really loving that pad, there are 48 sheets of varying colours which make for great backgrounds or cut-outs for the Julie Nutting dolls.  For the rulers I used gesso (black for the one on top, white for the bottom) and I added Inca Gold to highlight the numbers in red, and gold for the remainder of the ruler.  The roman numeral was from Finnabair's Mechanicals collection which I added gesso and then gelatoes.

Short and simple - sometimes the best things are left simple.

Sunrise Sunset collection and a farewell...

Oh how I love the colours in this collection from Prima - Sunrise Sunset.  I love combining it with black and ivory too.  I know that Finnibair combines a lot of metal in her projects with her line.  Here are a couple of layouts I put together at the last all day crop at Auntie Em's

Notice that light bulb?  It came with something else written on it, not sure what  but it didn't work for my layout, so I used rub-ons to put my humor onto my layout.  

I love my retractable awning!  This page looks thick, it's not.  All the flowers are Prima, but not a particular collection, they were pickings from the "candy bar" as were the leaves! The photo is of a butterfly that was fluttering about on the Lilac tree in front of my Parent's home on the one week a year that the lilacs actually bloom.  Not my favorite tree, as they only bloom for one week and look terrible for the other 51 weeks a year.  Anyway, this photo is kinda bittersweet, as I spent my last day at that home last week.  We had to sell my family home after my parents passing, and it closes next week.  Goodbye old house, you will be missed, but your memories will live strong in my creations!

Love my Prima Stamp!

Woohoo, I finally got one!  A Julie Nutting doll stamp from Prima!  Emma got 6 different ones into the store last week and as soon as they came in they were sold out!  I'm waiting for the next shipment to get the rest of them.  In the meantime I put together two quick tags using the Sunrise Sunset collection for the dresses, hairband, and banners.  I used my Copics to colour the girls and add a little detail to the pockets and neckline.  I also used the Tags that are being sold with the doll stamps - they fit perfectly!

It's a Rat Trap - well it was a rat trap - I am loving my new obsession with transforming mouse and rat traps into art.  I used the Prima Lyric line for this, and a very vintage pink flower from my stash - can't even tell you what year it's from, but it's probably as old as my kids!!

More from the Mega Challenge - En Francais

Um yeah, I'm not writing this blog post En Francias - but it's all about the Prima paper line En Francais collection!  This is part three of my projects created with this line - and I'm still not out of paper or inspiration.  It truly is a versatile collection.

Lost A Mitten

 

 

I used some gesso to create white space then stamped over the gesso with the script stamp from this collection. Some Tim Holtz tickets in the corner, and a combination of Prima alphas and Thickers for the title.  Sepia photos are particularly perfect for this line.

I used a Prima mask on this layout with modeling paste and Pan Pastals to give texture to the feather in the corner.  I used another mask and tinted gesso with gelatoes and then painted with gelatoes for the bricks.  You see that folk - more BOY layouts, LOL and flowers on every single one of them too *grinz*

Projects from Prima's En Francais line

So the Mega Challenge has proven to be pretty big for even me.  Emma provided two members of her Design Team with 8 sheets each of patterned paper.  My collection is the En Francais line from Prima.

I still have heaps of it to get to, I think 8 sheets is a lot.  This line is great for boy photos, and if any of you watch my blog, you will know I tend to scrapbook my daughter way more than I do my son.  So, here is perfect opportunity for me to scrapbook The Boy!!  I love the rust browns and the greys and blues in this collection.

Patience is a virtue

I took the kids to see the Cobourg Santa Claus parade.  The parade started at 3:00 (at the other end of town) we arrived at 1:00.  Yeah, I was early - did you hear that Emma?? I was early for something in my life!  We waited close to 3 hours just for the parade to start, needless to say the kids got very BORED and COLD.

For my layout I used a photo of the kids huddled under a blanket.  I used the Winter Fun collection from Carta Bella.  I got so much out of this collection, it was so easy to work with

 

 

 

I used some Molding paste through the negative of a die cut from my Cricut on a previous layout, I then added some glitter to the molding paste before it dried - turned out pretty good, I was a little worried that the paper wouldn't hold up to the molding paste, but it did, but I wouldn't use it for more than about 2 or 3 uses.  And the perfect thing is, no clean up - it's waste anyway, just toss it out!
