Art Venture Anaheim .... here I come!

This is a vacation I have been looking forward to for many months!  I signed up in May 2013 for Art Venture Anaheim, and it is just days away now!  Prima Marketing puts together a fantastic two day event full of Prima Instructors teaching phenomenal projects with NEW product and techniques.

To my excitement Prima Art Venture is coming to Canada in the spring (April 11-13 2014) and I will be going to that one too!  Here is the link for the details on Art Venture Canada.  All lodging and meals are included.

So, some of the girls are getting together to trade ATC's (Artist Trading Cards).  They are a 2.5" x 3.5" card that represents your creative style.  Well nothing says my style other than: Copic colouring, Pink, and Antique Linen distress ink!! Only thing I'm thinking I should have added somewhere on it is a daisy, oh well, next time. Well here is what I came up with - let me know what you think.

I'm also looking forward to going to CHA while in California!

Seasons Change - a Brave canvas for me....

I've had this idea in my head for a while - a large canvas of a tree with all four seasons.  This canvas is pretty big - not huge my any means, but it's 18x24, so much larger than what I'm use to working with.  I started with the background, creating quadrants to represent Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.  Then I added texture with a napkin.  The tree is a hot glue then painted!  The leaves are paper - using both a Martha Stewart punch and a Sizzix die (Prima).  The fall leaves are from Prima's Sunrise Sunset collection, and the green leaves are Authentique's Peaceful collection.  The cherry blossoms are from my stash - probably dollar store, can't remember.  The snow is modeling paste from Liquitex and glitter (although you can't see it in the photo).

I love how it turned out - one of the few times where what was in my head actually came out on my page/canvas.  I showed my husband and he said to me that he wants to hang it on the wall in the living room ... I near cried - he likes it that much, as much as I do!

So, let me know what you think - this is me being brave - doing a BIG canvas!

Leave a comment - they make my day!!

Create a canvas at Auntie Ems

You asked and we listened!  Auntie Em's had so many requests to make this canvas into a class .... so mark your calendars for Saturday November 9th.  All supplies will be provided with this class, but be prepared you WILL GET MESSY!  This is a project that will leave you with dirty fingerprints; and if you know me, that's not something I enjoy ... but the outcome is amazing.

You will get to play with Gelatoes and Acrylic paints and foam stamps.

Call the store to reserve your spot - space will be limited in this class.  613-938-4888 - Auntie Em's Scrapbooking, Cornwall

Surprize! Look at your Cake Face ...

A photo of my son on his first birthday - hard to believe he will be turning FOUR in just a couple of weeks ... already in school full time.  Where does the time go?

CAKE FACE

Using the Surprize collection from Bo Bunny I wanted the letter to pop a little so I used my fine tip Sharpie to doodle around the word surprize.  I used red ink to distress the edges to bring out the red of the paper line, and dripped some Heidi Swapp color shine in Sweet Cherry. A toilet paper roll and gesso for the random rings.  The balloons I used Utee and Versamark on to make them more dimensional. The title is Basic Grey chipboard letters.

Thanks for looking!

Totally Tilda - gettin' seedy!

The challenge over at Totally Tilda right now is gardening and you must use a seed package or gardening tool on your card.

I love the French Country collection from Graphic 45, it is totally right for this challenge.  This time I used my distress markers to watercolour my Tilda - she turned out pretty good if I do say so myself.
